Mothers Day

As I am sure you all know today is Mother’s day. If you forgot call her up and tell her something nice.

I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what to get my mother this year. I had considered getting her some really nice makeup from Sephora but did not have time to check out what she has when I was there last. SO I had to make due with delving into amazon a bit in search of something nice.
John Connolly The Infernals
The book is from one of the authors she likes and I know she hasn’t had a chance to read it yet. I have to admit that this gift is a little selfish. I too love John Connolly and want to borrow this badly!

Body Icon

For a long time I have been looking for a goal body. Something that I would be incredibly proud of if I achieved it. Her name is Anna Virmajoki.

Finally I found a body that was clearly achieved with a lot of work. She is probably a lifter something I think I’m going to try to get into.

New Favorite Food Tracking App

For a long time I have been looking for an app that would satisfy my food tracking needs. I have tried others in the past but recently (at the suggestion of some people over at /r/fitness recommended MyFitnessPal. This app is amazing, and I am absolutely in love.

First of all it is free, which is something I really wanted. I don’t mind if it has a free version, I just won’t pay for something I can’t try out first. Setting up an account is easy. I connected my account with my Facebook  It asks for your weight, age, sex, etc. All the basic information you would expect along with your activity level. After it gets all this information including your goal weight it spits out some numbers you should set as your goal. How many calories you should eat per day and per week as well as what potions of these calories should be fats, protein, or carbs among other things.

Sleep Tracking

I started tracking my sleep last Friday in an effort to get better sleep and keep myself accountable for staying up far too late. The app I use is called Sleep Time. Currently I am using the free version but I am thinking of upgrading to the pay version soon. The way this app works is I turn on the app and set my alarm time. Then I set my phone face down on the bed next to my pillow. The app tracks my movement throughout the night and uses that data to set my alarm off when it will be easiest for me to wake up. Here is what the results pages look like for my last few nights:

 Friday

The large amount of “awake” time at the beginning was me getting comfortable and setting up the phone. I was anxious it wouldn’t work to wake me up so I double checked it a couple of times.

C. and I made a trip to HomeGoods. I haven’t been there since I first went to college but I thought it might be a good idea to stop and check it out. I really ended up getting more than I intended. What I got:

  • 3 Iced Coffee cups that can be frozen to keep them cool longer $4.99 each (I got one previously for $7)
  • Stainless Steel Paper Towel holder $9.99

  • A Neoprene oven mitt $2.99
  • Organic Coconut Oil $5.99

I am most proud of this coffee press find. Not only is it adorable but I looked it up on Amazon and normally it runs for $27!!!
